I'm a personal trainer based in Somerville, MA. My focus is health you can carry for decades. Strength that holds up, joints that move easily, less pain in the places that have bothered you for years, and a clearer sense of connection to your own body. Training pays off over a lifetime. It shows up in your strength, your metabolic health, your mood, and how well you handle a stressful week.
I also believe exercise should be something you enjoy rather than something you endure. Movement becomes a real part of your life when it feels good and you look forward to it, so we'll find the version of training you actually like and let consistency do the work.
I don't have one program that everyone follows. Your history, your schedule, your injuries, the sport you play, and what you want from this are all your own. We'll build around the body and the life you have, and keep adjusting as you change.
I'm Hyunji, an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer passionate about bringing fitness to everybody.
I joined the taekwondo team in college as a white belt my freshman year. Earning my second degree black belt after years of training and competition taught me two things I still coach from: that getting better is mostly about showing up, and that moving your body feels good, especially when you're doing it alongside other people. Taekwondo led me to teaching cardio kickboxing PE classes for four years, where I found out I loved coaching.
These days most of my own training revolves around volleyball and weightlifting, so a lot of what I do in the gym is about jumping higher, landing more safely, and keeping my shoulders happy. I know what it's like to want something from your body and have to be patient about it.
I work with people who are brand new to exercising, people coming back after years away, and athletes chasing something specific. Wherever you're starting, we build from there.
We talk about your starting point, health history, goals, and more. We find out if we're a good fit for each other. Over Zoom or in person.
We look at how you move, try some lifts, and set starting points you can measure against later.
We build a program around you and adjust it as you evolve and get stronger.
Each session is 1 hour. You keep a standing slot each week, and I invoice monthly for the sessions on the calendar.
Most months have four of any given weekday, and a few have five. Your invoice corresponds to
however many sessions actually fall on the calendar that month.
No contract: you can pause for travel or stop with two weeks' notice.
